How do I upgrade from FontAgent Pro Server 1 to later versions of the server? |
If you are moving forward from version 1 & 2, to version 3 and beyond you will need remove the version 1 database and reupload your fonts and recreate your users and groups. If you are only going to upgrade to 2, we suggest going to 2.5, as it has Leopard compatibility.
If you are going to install the server on Leopard Server, you will have to upgrade to version 3. If you are going to install the Server on snow Leopard, you will need to upgrade to version 4. Before you install the upgrade, remove the /Library /FAPServer/ folder. This contains the old fonts and database. Then you can install FontAgent Pro Server over the current configuration. On the local client, the Client for FAP Server software can be installed over the current version as well. If you are going to run FontAgent Pro 4, it is recommended that you upgrade to version 3 of the server. Also, if you are going to upgrade to FontAgent Pro 4 at all, it is suggested that all users in your environment upgrade to that version. This version handles unicode much better than version 3 and if you administer from FontAgent Pro 4, and the fonts are downloaded to a workstation using FontAgent Pro 3, there is a possibility that the local database will break.
