Why does Smasher clear CUPS spool files?

The Common UNIX Printing System, or CUPS, is the printing system that Mac OS X uses to handle a wide variety of printers. Unfortunately, CUPS spool files can become corrupt and paralyze print queues. Also, CUPS spool files can become very large and take up valuable disk space.

To free up that space and to keep printers running smoothly, Smasher clears out old CUPS files when it "smashes" or clears font and preference caches. If you schedule Smasher to clear caches on a scheduled basis, you can eliminate CUPS spool problems for good.
