What sort of problems will I see if QuarkXpress caches become corrupt? |
|
|
QuarkXPress
deals with fonts in a very different way than any other program, building a font cache
folder of it's own. Unfortunately, the cache folder doesn't always update itself when you add, activate or deactivate fonts on your system, and sometimes restarting your system doesn't solve the problem.
When this happens, the cache gets stuck and trouble starts to happen. Font menus don’t get updated. You see false corruption warnings that waste your time by suggesting ineffective fixes. You see PostScript errors due to missing fonts that have been deactivated but appear active. Exporting to PDF mysteriously stops working. Even if you see none of these problems, QuarkXPress font caches can grow to include thousands of fonts and cause the program to become sluggish. Fortunately, Smasher can clean up those old font cache files so you can start QuarkXPress with new, clean caches and a faster system. |
